The Square

Aida El-Kashef is responsible for the documentary we watched in classed, titled “The Square.” She is feminist Egyptian filmmaker who tries to express the demonstrations of protest in Egypt.  Her film.“The Square,” received awards and positive critical response from the public. It closely repsonibles the struggle of obsessed people trying to fight back in order to take grab command pof their democracy and freedom. Her film is a direct correlation of the incident in Tunisia, that caused “The Arab Spring”. The Arab spring is about rebel and revolution. The people in the middle East want freedom from their oppressive government. This is what martyr Mohamed Bouazizi sacrifice his life for a more human cause for the public. Burning himself in front of his government, makes a stand that supports the idea of equality. What Kshef’s documentary shows is the journey of the fight and what it takes for a people to take back a government for themselves. El-Kashef represent the image of modern Egypt and fights to documentary history that shows the fight of her people’s image against a terrible dictator like Morris or corrupt governments around the Middle East.
